BIM Process and Information Management

Implementing BIM in construction projects requires a goal-oriented approach. As a BIM process manager, we determine the strategy together with the client and monitor quality throughout the construction process. We follow international standards such as ISO 19650, RIBA digital work plan and the Belgian agreement system of the Cluster Digital Construction. Our team has extensive expertise and experience in Belgian and European projects with international players.

BIM Automation & Custom Development

D-studio develops customized BIM applications and automation tools to support all BIM processes. This ranges from plugins and integration solutions to full cloud applications. The common thread is low-threshold access to complex project data for the entire project team and all stakeholders involved. This way, we create added value based on already available data and resources. The in-house BIM verification and validation workflow is fully automated under the name BIMcradle.

BIM innovation and research through research projects

Together with all kinds of knowledge institutions (Buildwise, Sirris, imec, ... ), D-studio is constantly working on the road of innovation through research projects: improving construction processes, promoting information exchange and developing and correctly deploying supporting technology. This has been in our genes for more than 30 years. See also Digital4Circular (VLAIO), fire safety and regulations in FireBIM (ITEA, EU+VLAIO). D-studio is also actively involved in international standardization through CEN/TC 442 and buildingSMART.

BIM Coordination & Modeling

D-studio acts as BIM coordinator, often in conjunction with the strategic role of the BIM process manager. Our experienced coordinators take care of daily operational tasks within the project, such as coordination (clash control), modeling, configuration of CDE and software, data verification and extraction, and integration of analyses (QTO, planning, cost, TOTEM, GRO). Our coordinators relieve the project team with their extensive knowledge of applications and data formats (OpenBIM & Native).

BIM Plugin development

D-studio is a specialized in developing integration plugins for Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, ACC, Design Automation (as Autodesk ADN partner since 2003), Archicad (add-ins since 2016) and applications around IFC and BCF (e.g. BIMdata, BIMio, Newforma), among others. When your own scripts in e.g. VBA or Dynamo reach their limit, we build more robust solutions. Via our own library (xD BIM Engine) we link your BIM application to the business logic of external applications or databases. Projects for Saint-Gobain, Gyproc, KPD, RIVM, ... .

Expertise through partners

Because it is simply smarter to work together and exchange insights, sometimes because of local market knowledge, or because of very specific knowledge, we regularly work together with partners & domain specialists; Belgian and European partners (NL, D, LUX, BG). It allows us to delve much deeper into the matter and come up with better solutions for each question. It is also simply necessary and enriching to benchmark ourselves and our level of knowledge. Together, we are simply smarter.

BIM Consultancy, Implementation, Training

When implementing BIM within an organization, we start optimally from an audit of the internal processes and a screening of the needs and wishes of all stakeholders. Then we formulate the strategic goals and a roadmap, based on gradualness, a step-by-step implementation and knowledge transfer. all tailored to the organization. Workshops and information sessions support this process. By extension, in-depth customized training sessions can be organized around BIM applications and processes.

Automation of the BIM workflow | BIM CRADLE

We have automated our internal verification and validation processes. Models are addressed via APIs from the CDE (ACC or other) and fully automatically verified for information requirements. Verification of documentation and geometry has also been streamlined. Here we follow the Information delivery specification (IDS) as formulated in the relevant project documents (OIR/AIR/PIR/EIR, BEP) and the program of requirements. The results can be accessed via dashboards such as PowerBI or similar.

Project control Planning & Risk management

We see BIM primarily as a component of project management. That is why we have entered into a much closer cooperation with our Dutch partner Uijlenhoet, Planning and Consultancy (https://www.planningenadvies.nl/), specialist in project control around project planning and risk management. We see data-driven project management as the next step. From a structured and transparent approach to information (data) and processes, project decisions can be substantiated much more easily.

The approach from different complementary perspectives gives us a unique position to give BIM methods and technology the right place within construction projects.
